Our team at Knockout Renovation is thrilled to be recently featured in one of our favorite online publications, Houzz. Read on as we take a peek at how our founder Keith Steier addresses the challenges of maximizing storage space during kitchen remodeling.
Maximizing Kitchen Storage Space
Keith sums up one of the most common problems city dwellers have when it comes to remodeling their kitchens: “there are a lot of postage-stamp-sized kitchens [in the city]…so people are often looking to increase the storage capacity of their space and to add appliances as well”. Apartment dwellers do not have the luxury of building house additions or increasing kitchen floor area, therefore one must smartly utilize their kitchen space.
One of the best pieces of advice in the Houzz article is utilizing the kitchen’s full height. Typical residential kitchen cabinets are 30 inches at most. Keith elaborates: “If you change those to 42-inch-tall cabinets, you gain an extra foot vertically of storage per cabinet”. Most remodelers can partially modify existing structurally sound cabinet boxes, but it will take a very good remodeler to make it look like it’s been designed that way from the beginning.
Why Knockout Renovation?
One of the things that set Knockout Renovation apart from other remodelers in the city is Keith’s experience. His work on a Navy destroyer doing various building and fabrication jobs instilled a sense of utility, which we apply when working on a project with limited floor areas, such as apartments and home additions.
Our team consists of designer project managers, office coordinators, and tradespeople who have the experience and expertise to ensure your project’s success. We offer world-class products and have relationships with manufacturers and distributors which lets us manage project delays, which is a greater challenge when performing remodeling work in busy cities.
With our current situation in New York City, in-house consultations are not ideal for most of our clients. We now offer digital design consultations, which lets our clients virtually consult with us using photos, measurements, videos, and floor plans. Consultations and design presentations can also be done through live video.
